Sav-Mor's Begining

Why is my check engine light on?

You’re driving down the road with the window down and the radio up, the sun is warm and as you look at the instrument cluster you notice that the orange check engine light is on. But what does a check engine light mean and should you be alarmed?

It depends. Your check engine light comes on in two ways, steady and flashing. If your check engine light is steady it indicates a problem and if the light is flashing it indicates a more serious problem. Your check engine light could mean something as simple as a loose gas cap or it could be something more serious like a misfiring cylinder or broken catalytic converter.

The best thing to do when your check engine light comes on is to have a complete computer diagnostic done. At SavMor Auto Clinic our diagnostic tool will tell us exactly what’s wrong with your car so that we make sure that you get back on the road and your mind is at ease. We hook up a computerized diagnostics tool to your car and your cars computer gives us a code that tells us why your check engine light is on. We then check out the problem visually.

Our diagnostics only takes about an hour so we will be able to tell you what’s going on with your car quickly.

Not only do we do accurate diagnostics but our technicians have been repairing cars for a very long time and are very knowledgeable. SavMor Auto Clinic’s techs will answer all of your questions and will be upfront with you about whatever repairs do or don’t need to be done.

Don’t roll the dice with your check engine light. Hopefully it’s just a loose gas cap but if it’s something more serious we make sure it gets repaired quickly, cheaply and the right way.
